Accompanist - Marcus Martin (from Sept 2016)

Marcus was born in Worthing and studied piano, organ and general music subjects at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. After graduating he subsequently obtained an MA degree in Arts Management in Education at City University, London.

Marcus taught piano and academic studies for the East Sussex Academy of Music and then held the position of Music Course Organiser for continuing education at West Dean College near Chichester. He currently leads UK Music Holidays, including music appreciation, festivals, orchestral and choral holidays organised by HF Holidays.

As an accompanist he has appeared in many prestigious venues such as the South Bank complex, Royal Albert Hall, St John’s, Smith Square and the Edinburgh Festival. Marcus has also worked extensively in the musical theatre as Musical Director for amateur and professional productions.

In 2012 Marcus received an invitation to attend the Jubilee Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace. The citation for this honour was in respect of twenty-five years of services to Music and Charities in Worthing, including work with young performers within the Worthing Music and Arts Festival - an organisation for which he has been elected Life President - and in particular the raising of over £50,000 for various local and national charities during the past fourteen years of presenting ‘Morning Melodies.’
