Our Next Concert

“The Creation” was composed by Franz Joseph Haydn 225 years ago and the elegance, drama and power of its music have enchanted audiences ever since.  Worthing Choral Society will reignite the dramatic text, depicting the creation of the world as described in the Book of Genesis, with the support of three outstanding vocal soloists and the amazing Philip White-Jones at the organ.

Soprano Natalie Clifton-Griffith delighted the audience with the purity and clarity of her voice in the recent performance of Mozart’s “Requiem” with the Choir in March, tenor Sam Barton needs little introduction as he is well known as the Associate Musical Director of the Choir and bass Bob Davies returns to sing with the Choir having taken the Assembly Hall by storm in Handel’s Messiah in 2018. 

Musical Director Aedan Kerney says: “All choirs experienced the utter darkness of being unable to sing together during the pandemic. So the energy and passion of being able to sing together is just amazing and being able to sing one of the great masterpieces of all time to an audience fills us with palpable excitement. For me the opening chorus “And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters” leading through to “Sing the Lord, ye voices all” at the beginning of the final chorus make me want to experiment with every possible musical pyrotechnics. What a humdinger of a composer Haydn was! The mischievous twinkle of his personality bursts from every note, musical phrase, solo and chorus of this stunning music. I am just so pleased that our accompanist is also a qualified aircraft pilot!”
